Reflecting Borders
DOMINIKA SZCZOT
April 11 – April 21, 2024
Reflecting Borders invites visitors to perceive the concepts of borders and boundaries in a new light. Dominika Szczot’s works offer a profound reflection on the nature of human perception, encouraging viewers to reconsider conventional notions of space and form, to reflect on the complexity of boundaries, and at the same time to explore their potential for transcendence.
Through the subtle interaction of form, color, and technique, Szczot’s painting functions as an instrument that invites viewers to question the dynamic and often paradoxical qualities of boundaries in human perception and experience. Through her painterly process of observant interaction—in which invisible physical forces act as dialogical partners—Szczot ventures to give form to the formless force of mana. The result of this interaction is the visible form of the artwork, reflecting the process of creative unfolding and inviting viewers to reflect on the interplay of cause and effect and the connection between form and energy.
The exhibition thus offers insight into the multilayered process of Dominika Szczot’s practice, which challenges and redefines not only the boundaries of human perception, but also those between past and present.
