value,
not gut feeling
The market delivers the figures.
ARTCARE delivers the reading.

Bespoke art valuations based on prices actually achieved at auction, benchmarked worldwide & documented over years.
The art market often works with names, attributions and a feeling for the right price. ARTCARE takes a different approach. Here, a valuation is neither a claim nor a promise, but a traceable line of reasoning. Every value stated can be traced back to its source, grounded in secondary-market prices achieved worldwide and a database that ARTCARE has maintained for decades.
What a work of art is worth can be substantiated. Every ARTCARE valuation is based on the international secondary market. A work is not measured against wishful thinking, but against actual auction results for comparable works, worldwide and filtered by format, medium, working period and sale status. Added to this are documented provenance and an openly stated confidence level that also names where the data is thin. Where others work with superlatives, here the figures speak.
This is made possible by a database that ARTCARE has maintained for decades. It records and analyses prices, sales and market movements over many years. This continuity is the real difference. A valuation here is not the snapshot of a single appraiser, but the result of continuous, transparent market observation.
01
Evidenced, not estimated
Every valuation rests on prices actually achieved at auction, not on estimates or assumptions.
03
Proprietary database
ARTCARE has recorded prices and market movements for decades, placing developments in a long-term context.
05
Transparent data
Where the comparative basis is thin, this is stated openly, rather than feigning a certainty the data cannot support.
02
Compared worldwide
Comparable works are drawn from the leading auction houses, from im Kinsky in Vienna to Sotheby's internationally.
04
External appraisers
On request, independent experts are brought in to assess a work and corroborate the valuation
06
Neutral and independent
The valuation follows the market, not a sales interest, and remains free of conflicts of interest
For ARTCARE, this approach is a question of fairness. Valuations cover individual works whose value is unclear, as well as entire collections, which on request are recorded and assessed together with external appraisers. ARTCARE also advises ahead of a purchase decision, neutrally and independently, as an external party with no sales interest of its own. This applies across every field, from Old Masters and icons to contemporary art by established and emerging international artists.

WHAT CLIENTS GET
BEFORE
YOU BUY
Anyone considering the purchase of a work usually faces the same question: is the asking price fair? This sheet answers it with data rather than opinion. It brings together current and archived sale and asking prices for comparable works, complemented by up-to-date market analyses and ARTCARE's own valuation. The result is a second opinion, formed neutrally and with no interest in closing the deal, providing a solid basis for the purchase decision and price negotiation.

BEFORE
YOU SELL
When a work is to be assessed or sold, this sheet begins with a complete record. Provenance, auction results, asking prices, exhibition history and condition are gathered and read in market context. The result shows what the work is worth on the market at the present moment. It serves equally to establish where one's own holdings stand and as a sound basis for offering a work for sale.

I originally come from the financial sector, where a simple rule applies: a valuation is only as good as the data it rests on. That is exactly what we bring to the art market. Together with my team and external experts, we value a work not on gut feeling, but on the basis of prices actually achieved, compared worldwide and documented over years. For our clients, that means a neutral assessment with no sales interest of our own, the kind you would expect from proper due diligence. In the art trade, this is still the exception. For me, it is a question of fairness.
