Danielle's World
DANIELLE PAMP
14 May - 28 May 2024 - FLOMYCA
Following Danielle Pamp’s contribution to the group exhibition Systemrelevant at Künstlerhaus Vienna last year, the FLOMYCA off-space hall is now being activated with a broad selection of Danielle’s oil paintings from 2018 to the present.
The exhibition Danielle’s World is dedicated to the artist’s personal memories and imaginations, ranging from childhood recollections at the beach to self-stagings with queer icons, conceived as an expansion of the traditional concept of family.
The queer identity movement currently challenges traditional boundaries of gender, sexuality, and identity. Artists such as Frida Kahlo, Keith Haring, and David Hockney have, in the past, illustrated queer experiences and perspectives through their work, thereby making an important contribution to the promotion of acceptance and diversity in art. The Factory, founded by Andy Warhol in New York, was known for its experimental atmosphere and its openness toward diverse forms of art and culture. Within this environment, many queer artists and their works were supported and presented.
Danielle Pamp’s works make a significant contribution to the recontextualization of art history by combining traditional family memories with representations of figures from the LGBTQ community. Through this connection between personal experience and queer identities, she helps to reinterpret and update the history and diversity of human experience in art.
